Welcome back to my series where I’m building a fashion brand from scratch!

If you’ve been following along, you know we’re creating a tween swimwear brand using my Fashion Launch Mentor AI & Blueprint. We’ve already tackled Step 1 (Standout Style) and Step 2 (Ideal Customer). Now, in Episode 95, it’s time for Step 3: Defining Your Problem & Solution.

This is the step where your idea turns into a pitch. You’ll walk away with a crystal-clear problem statement, a powerful solution, a sticky marketing line, and features/benefits that make your product irresistible.

💡 Why this matters: When you can explain your problem and solution confidently, you’ve got an elevator pitch, marketing copy, and sales hooks — all in one.

Using the Fashion Launch Mentor AI

Inside the Fashion Launch Mentor AI, Step 3 asks you to dictate your answers to a set of prompts. No more messy notes…just speak your thoughts and let the Mentor transcribe and organize them into a business-ready blueprint.

For my tween swimwear brand, here’s what I uncovered.

The Prompts

Prompt 1: What’s the most frustrating thing your customer experiences when shopping for tween swimwear?
Tween girls and moms struggle with finding swimsuits that are cute, comfortable, and age-appropriate. Most default to Target’s same-old styles. They need coverage that lasts, cuts that fit growing bodies, and materials that don’t feel uncomfortable or cheap.

Prompt 2: What’s missing from the market? Why don’t big brands get this right?
Fast fashion dominates the tween market. Big brands chase trends, designing for “everyone” instead of a specific girl. The result? Low-quality, short-lived pieces that frustrate moms and leave tweens uninspired.

Prompt 3: What inspired you to create this brand?
As a 23-year swimwear designer and a mom, I’m tired of watching my daughter’s swimsuits fade, stretch, or cause irritation after a few wears. I want something that lasts, fits comfortably, and excites her to wear.

Prompt 4: How does your swimwear improve the experience for both mom and daughter?
No friction. Mom knows she’s buying a quality product her daughter will actually wear. Daughter feels confident and comfortable, supported by trend-forward details and influencer buzz.

The Fashion Launch Mentor AI Output

Problem Statement:
Tween girls and their moms are stuck choosing between overly mature cuts or bland basics. Most swimsuits don’t offer the right coverage for growing bodies, fabrics that last, or styles that actually excite tweens. Fast fashion cycles ignore the in-between years, leaving moms frustrated and girls uninspired.

Solution Statement:
This brand offers stylish, mom-approved two-piece swimsuits made with high-quality, ultra-comfortable fabrics that won’t fade, stretch out, or irritate sensitive skin. With thoughtful cuts and trend-forward details, it’s the first tween swimwear brand designed to last and loved by both moms and daughters.

Sticky Marketing Line:
“Swimwear they beg for. Coverage you trust.”

Feature–Benefit Pairs:

  • Modest two-piece cuts: Keeps coverage in place while still feeling age-appropriate and trendy.
  • Italian Lycra performance fabrics: Fade-resistant, soft, and long-lasting — no more stretched-out suits.
  • Gold hardware & signature beading: Adds excitement and status appeal, making it feel like a real fashion moment for tweens.

Customer Transformation:
Girls light up when they wear it. Moms feel proud of a smart, stylish choice. Everyone can stop fighting about swimwear — it’s the suit they reach for first again and again.

Why Step 3 Matters

This step gives you your elevator pitch. It’s what you say when someone asks, “What’s your brand?”
Example:

“I’m working on the first tween swimwear brand designed to last and loved by both moms and daughters — mom-approved two-piece swimsuits made with high-quality, ultra-comfortable fabrics that won’t fade or irritate sensitive skin.”

That’s powerful. That’s what gets you trade show appointments, store meetings, and early customers before you even launch.

What’s Next (Step 4)
